Why are my Acrobat files showing the wrong name when open?

This has happened on two different files in the last week (that I've actively noticed while working with them). The files are saved and read on the hard drive as the name I gave them. When I open the file to review some information, I have a different name (from a different document) on my window in the task bar and when active on-screen.

Since these files are for two separate organizations and types of businesses, this looks unprofessional if I transfer those files to my clients without resolving the issue. Please tell me it's something very simple, I'll even take a 'duh!' if I can fix this befoe I have to deliver the files.

Please close this question. After a bit more review, it may be the problem of another program, saving the files incorrectly to PDF. I apologize. Now to go fuss on their boards.

You're seeing the file's title. You csn change it under File - Properties -
General.

Displaying the document title rather than the file name is generally considered a good practice - provided that you have given the document a meaningful title. The Acrobat XI accessibility checker checks for this among other factors.

Thanks for the information. I will follow your suggestion. I really appreciate the help. I'd never seen it happen before, and the deadlines for both items are within the next couple days, so I was stressing a bit; since I'm new at freelancing.

There's also a setting you can set under Edit-Prefs.-General (if I remember
correctly) that defines whether the file name or title should be used.

Thanks for the information. I really appreciate the help.

I'd always thought they were one and the same (both the naming used for hard drive access and the title of the document window after it's been opened). This was a new phenomenon, and considering the odd title I was reading while the document was open, it was NOT descriptive of the information contained inside. Since it was for two different completely unrelated types of work, it was also completely unacceptable for the document's submission to one client.
