Here is action set https://www.dropbox.com/s/9aiy9ovp58umb8i/Pattern.atn?dl=0 with only one action which will define pattern (Edit > Define Pattern) and close the file. First load action set in Photoshop, you can do that from File > Open > navigate to Pattern.atn file and double click on it. Display Actions panel from Window > Actions and you should see Pattern action set with only one action: Define Pattern and Close. Do the following: Go to File > Automate > Batch. Set Destination at the top of the Batch dialog to None.
- From Set: drop down list choose: Pattern (action set).
- From Action: drop down choose: Define Pattern and Close (action).
- Source should be set to Folder, click on Choose button and navigate to folder with JPG images.
- Click OK and wait couple of seconds or minutes, depending on how many images you have.
Patterns will be saved with the file name and you can find them using Edit > Presets > Preset Manager > Patterns. You can rename and save patterns from Preset Manager.
I've never tried it but will on Monday.
I'm mainly offline this weekend (the horror!) but will try your action on Monday.
That worked a treat (I'd never used File > Automate > Batch before, this will be seriously useful).
You are very welcome, thanks for a feedback.
