1. Re: Why isn't ColdFusion supported in Dreamweaver CC 2012?
Nancy O. Nov 2, 2014 11:25 AM (in response to Ron Kurtus)Are they planning on abandoning CF?
I think they already have in DW. Years ago (around the time of CS2 and CS3), Adobe said they wanted CF coders to use CFBuilder instead of DW which was slated to drop support for ColdFusion. My pals who used CF all switched from DW to other IDEs like Eclipse. Unfortunately, CFBuilder is not available through the Creative Cloud plan which is baffling to a lot of people.

Ron Kurtus Nov 2, 2014 3:16 PM (in response to Nancy O.)Thanks for your comments.
Actually, CF is still available in DW CS6. I'm SO glad I kept CS6 on my computer, It just is a hassle to have to use CS6 whenever I want to do things in CF.
With all the negative changes with DW CC, I'm getting sorry I bothered upgrading and paying this yearly fee. Also, I wonder if the people at Adobe are listening to their customers that are commenting in these forums. I sort of doubt it.

Preran regularly communicates with the DW engineering team. So I think Adobe is keenly aware of the problems in DW. But remember, policy comes from corporate *higher-ups* who rarely if ever visit these forums.
The decision to drop CF support from DW was discussed at conferences. Believe me, there was a LOT of weeping, wailing and gnashing of teeth over it. Perhaps that's why CF support in DW lasted as long as it did.

Herbert2001 Nov 2, 2014 9:35 PM (in response to Ron Kurtus)There are many cfml coders who really love SublimeText as an alternative to DW. And as a general web code editor it does sorta kick DW's behind at the moment. So you might want to try it out - the trial runs indefinitely.

Carl Von Stetten Nov 3, 2014 11:55 AM (in response to Nancy O.)While CFBuilder is not part of Creative Cloud, it is now free with ColdFusion 11 licenses. You get one free Builder license with each ColdFusion 11 Standard Edition, and three Builder licenses with each ColdFusion 11 Enterprise Edition. Also, if you install the CFBuilder trial, after the trial period expires, it reverts to CFBuilder Express which is free to use. You do lose some of the advanced functionality related to RDS and debugging, but the basic code editing works fine.
