Yes. You can use a Template and then add a button that allows the user to
spawn new copies of the form within the same file using the template object.

Hi there. I did that, but the button doesn't seem to work in the distributed form. Can I compile the data in a form that I don't distribute?

Just be aware that the fields for each student will have to be renamed as the page is spawned so usage of the form in the manner you are trying might not be a good approach, I would look at creating a portfolio.

Templates will not work with Reader if the form is Reader-enabled with Acrobat, which is what happens when you use the "Distribute Form" feature of Acrobat.
