bootsuk Nov 4, 2014 1:38 PM (in response to bootsuk)I do but its annoying and time wasting I just want to turn it off. It has only just started to do it and not sure quite why.

Mark Mapes Nov 6, 2014 10:31 PM (in response to bootsuk)The inclusion of the timecode was a feature added i n 2014.1. There is no preference to disable it.

bootsuk Nov 7, 2014 1:22 AM (in response to Mark Mapes)Thank you Mark.
I was afraid that could be the answer. I wish Adobe could just add the option to turn it off. (or on)
Thanks again

5. Re: Time code included in frame export!!
Mark Mapes Nov 7, 2014 10:54 AM (in response to bootsuk)Sorry this change is not to your liking.
As to adding an option to control this, we hear that a lot with various changes that some customers don't like. When designing a feature, we consider which aspects merit a pref, but the bar is rather high because we have to guard against the UI becoming cluttered. The more prefs there are, the harder it is for users to remember what options they have and find one when they want it. Also, preferences add to the complexity of the code, the testing matrices, and the process of troubleshooting user-reported issues. Granted that the latter concerns are not much in play with something as simple as whether to append the frame's timecode in the name.
I was not involved in this change, but I suspect the thinking was that when the name was simply <source name>_##, most users would edit the name to something more descriptive. The expectation was that adding the timecode would provide useful context--perhaps enough that some users would be able to skip editing the name--and those who don't want the timecode in the image name would probably be editing the string anyway, in which case having a longer initial string (entirely selected by default) would cost them nothing.
Bottom line: if you feel strongly enough that adding an option for this should be a high priority for us, please submit a feature request.

6. Re: Time code included in frame export!!
bootsuk Nov 7, 2014 1:00 PM (in response to Mark Mapes)Many thanks for the explanation Mark that's really appreciated and I take your points on board.
I'm sure the feature it is very useful when editing and a still is used in the project, to identify the location is good.
In my case I often just need a still taken from a short sequence captured purely for printing purposes during a tape to DVD duplication session , I don't even need the word still or the number in the file name.
I have saved projects set up with no content, so as capture a short section of footage, export the relevant frame for printing purposes then delete the content ready for next time.
Just annoying to delete all the unwanted file info which is now quite long each time I export a still.
Anyway thank you very much again for your information it has clarified the situation. I must have missed the update info, that will teach me to read the blurb next time!
Kind regards
Brian
