    Help - lost .dir file

    JOHN MONDO Level 1
Hmmm a real chump mistake. I've accidentally deleted an authored file that represents about 6 hours work. Is there anyway Director can recover from an authored projector? i.e. a .exe file.

      thanks

If you can enable a message window (by adding the following in a file
named "lingo.ini" placed beside the projector)
          on startUp
          the debugPlaybackEnabled = 1
          end

Then you can issue the following command from the message window that
opens when you run the projector:
          saveMovie(the moviePath & "recovered.dir")

However, the scripts in the file are compiled and unrecoverable. The
saved movie will have a working score and cast members, but you can't
          edit any of the scripts.

U can try Windows System Restore. Restore your windows to the time when your files haven't been deleted.

I would download and install a file recovery program. there are plenty of them on the net (both free and paid) that can recover your deleted file (the paid ones can possibly do it with limits to file size or the number of files that can be deleted when being demoed). Then I would think about how not to get into this situation again, unfortunately, we all run into the problem of accidentally deleting files ;-S.
