Try quitting and relaunching Acrobat.
I'm not using acrobat to open the pdf. Viewing it in chrome. Have tried relaunching, clearing cache, etc. but no luck.

Check the changed PDF in Acrobat Reader, sometimes it can be difficult to really clear a browser's cache.
Chrome's built-in PDF browser does not even begin to conform to the PDF specification. It might be fine to read PDF files from the simplest of Word documents, but not output from any graphic arts source.
(The same is true for Apple's Preview application under MacOS and their PDF viewer under iOS!)
