Upgraded from 5.3 to 5.6: lost all my presets! (W7 x64)

I have my catalog, but all my user develop presets are gone. I'm searching my computer but am not finding them. Is there a way to extract a preset that was applied to a RAW? In the history, I see the name of the preset i applied. How can I recover them?

Open Lightroom, then open the Presets panel in the Develop Module. With that view on the screen, now call up the Presets tab of the Lightroom Preferences, specifically the option to "Store presets with this catalog". If it's checked, uncheck it. If it's unchecked, check it. Whilst doing this, watch to see if your presets appear....

I understand that. My User Presets may still exist, but I can't find them in a windows search. I think the 5.6 installer erased them?

It did default to an older catalog, but I just opened my latest catalog from an external drive so my recent work is represented but my PRESETS are no where to be seen. I can reinstall some of my purchased Develop presets, but it sucks that my latest tweaked user presets are gone.
