    smtp issues

    siteminderUX Community Member

      Hi

Never had issues with BC mail before. I have 'upgraded' to OSX Yosemite and slowly things starts to fall apart. Mail worked fine for a few days but now I cannot send emails anymore using BC SMTP server. from all my SMTP accounts it's the only one that is failing to connect. I tried deleting my account in Mac Mail and create it again but doesn't work.

Anyone experiencing SMTP issues especially on the new Yosemite OS?

      Thanks

      Micha

          Hi Micha,

Please refer to this tutorial: http://docs.businesscatalyst.com/Tutorials#!/Email/mac-mail-on-yosemite
Let me know if you experience any further issues.

          Kind Regards,

            Thanks Alex

Mail worked just fine for a few days after installing Yosemite so I guess the setup was fine. I don't know why all of a sudden it doesn't work. The tutorial link you sent is a bit vague. first it's Mail version 8 not 4.4.

Also the tutorial assume a person already setup an account but doesn't show the steps to set it up. Do I use IMAP or POP?

Then in the SMTP filed it says: "In the fields provided below, please enter: Description: Optional, leave blank Server Name: mail.domain.com".... How can I leave the server name blank? if it's blank there is no SMTP server at all.

Anyhow, even after creating a new account the new Mail seems to be very unstable, or more precise, unusable. I installed Thunderbird and everything just work without any issues. So it's a software issue not BC.

            Thanks
