I have not used Premiere for a while and recently cloned my drive and updated to SSD which I doubt is related.
However when I try to insert a video (mp4, mov, etc) into the timeline I can only drop it onto the audio side and of course I just have audio. These are working video files and even ones I have inserted into Premiere in the past.
I am sure its something I have done but cant figure out out. Normally when you drop the video file you get the linked video section on top and audio below.
I have tried creating new projects with different settings and same results.
Actually want to add I have noticed if I start a new project and insert a video it works fine but if I try to drag a second video to the timeline it has the audio only issue.
Figured it out. Rookie mistake. For some reason the V1 was not highlighted !
We are glad that you are resolving your issues as you go.
But, I am not clear on some of your causes and effects.
So, if you have any questions or need clarification, please do not hesitate to ask, with details necessary to help you.
The questions and answers now may avoid having to redo projects into which you have devoted a lot of time.
But for now, when you seem to have everything under control, best wishes with your Premiere Elements projects.
