Copy them to a folder on your hard drive and then open them is Photoshop.
If the card reader is properly connected, it should show up on your computer just like any other drive you connect (hard drive, CD/DVD, USB flash drive, etc.). At that point you can drag the files onto your computer just like you would any other files from any other storage media.
If you want to have more control over adding the photos, and if you've installed Adobe Bridge, in Bridge you can choose File > Get Photos from Camera and it will start the Photo Downloader, which you can use to help automate the process. Photo Downloader can copy the files directly to any folder you choose while organizing them in subfolders for you (for example, by date), while renaming them the way you like, and also adding any keywords and other metadata you want such as ownership and copyright information.
