shooternz Nov 8, 2014 9:58 PM (in response to wastingyourlifeaway)What audio purpose are you intending to do because I dont get it?
You want to play a video that you dont want to see...ie to hear it only , I assume...yet you are wanting to do other audio stuff while the audio player in PPRo is tying up your sound card.

wastingyourlifeaway Nov 9, 2014 5:06 AM (in response to shooternz)I don't want to do other audio things; I just want to be able to hear Premiere Pro while it's minimized. I know that it sounds strange, but that's just my goal. I'm merely wondering if it is possible or not, because if it is, I would make use of it.
(For example, although this is separate, I can minimize Adobe Audition while it's playing audio in the multitrack session, and it still plays and doesn't maximize. I'm simply wondering if the same is possible for Premiere Pro.)

JEShort01 Nov 9, 2014 5:35 AM (in response to wastingyourlifeaway)You can't exactly "minimize" Premiere Pro during playback.
However, maybe one of these will get you what you are looking for:
- Doing a "show desktop" toggle will minimize EVERYTHING on your desktop.
- You can shrink down the whole Premiere Pro Window size to just about nothing, and sound playback will continue; all you will see on your desktop is the Pr logo, and the three Windows buttons (minimize, maximize, and close).

wastingyourlifeaway Nov 9, 2014 5:39 AM (in response to JEShort01)Okay, thanks for the information. However, I'm still curious; why is this the case? Did they directly make it so that Premiere couldn't be minimized while playing a video? Or was that just a random result? I don't see why they thought it would be a good idea to restrict something so simple (even if I'm the only person who cares about it).

Jerry Klaimon Nov 9, 2014 6:29 AM (in response to wastingyourlifeaway)I just tried it for the first time, on win7, and yes, I can still hear the audio. Have you tried it and it didn't work?

Richard M Knight Nov 9, 2014 6:44 AM (in response to Jerry Klaimon)Show desktop works for me, except when returning to Premiere I lose all of the menu bar.

7. Re: Is it possible to minimize Premiere Pro while it's playing a video?
wastingyourlifeaway Nov 9, 2014 7:18 AM (in response to Richard M Knight)I'm on Windows 8.1. The show desktop works for a second, but if I open another window (that's separate to Premiere) then it brings Premiere back up. If I just hit the regular minimize button in the top right corner, it'll minimize, but instantly come right back up again (without me doing anything else).

Make a Feature Request... but you may have to define your "goal" and its usefulness" a little better than you have done in this thread.

Assumption is likely and logical that video editors need to see the video in a video editing application and have some way of controlling it ( Playback navigationcontrol).

I'll add another method: turn off the monitor! Or just don't look!
I always wanted to do something else and work in another window while the PR timeline played. I assume you still can't do that, but I haven't tried in CC yet.
