1. Re: Combined Video / DVD-ROM only works with output directly to Disc
Stan Jones Nov 11, 2014 10:08 AM (in response to Geomarkus)I first thought that you are not setting up your html correctly. But I don't see why it would not work built to a folder and work built to a DVD. I can't tell, because you are not telling us what you see on the DVD/the DVD folder regarding the ROM content.
In Encore, for the ROM content, you must select a folder. That top level folder is NOT going to appear on the DVD. The ROM the files inside that folder and any folders inside that folder (and their content).
Since you are playing this as a web page, I assume you have a file such as index.htm and it references video files that are in another folder or in the same folder as that file?

SAFEHARBOR11 Nov 11, 2014 10:09 AM (in response to Geomarkus)Hi Markus,
HOW exactly are you burning the hard drive folder to a DVD disc? If simply burning the VIDEO_TS folder to disc as DATA, that is why it does not work in the DVD player. To be a legal-spec DVD compatible with set-top players, a DVD must be burned as "DVD Video". The files are laid out a certain way on the disc, there is perhaps a flag on the disc indicating that it is "DVD Video", etc.
Add any DVD-Rom content in Encore, then try building an IMAGE (.iso) file from Encore rather than a "Folder" on the hard drive. Use any burning software that can use an .iso as a source and that will create a proper DVD. Or use a free software such as "ImageBurn" and be sure to choose "DVD Video" when burning the folder to disc if you wish to continue using the folder method. But I don't think you can add more data inside the VIDEO_TS folder once it is on the hard drive, only add content in Encore.
I believe that VLC Media Player will play .iso file DVDs if memory serves

3. Re: Combined Video / DVD-ROM only works with output directly to Disc
Stan Jones Nov 11, 2014 10:40 AM (in response to Geomarkus)Jeff's response reminded me that I forgot to address another point.
I wanted to write the project on a folder on the harddrive (just to send a master copy online)....
For the reasons Jeff described, if a user downloads the DVD folder and burns it to a disk (with most disk burning utilities), it will burn it as a data disk, rather than a DVD video disk, and it will not work.
You say your video_ts is working either way. Are you sure the burned disk works in a DVD player?
