saving different folders within one photoshop document

Hi - I'm trying out Creative Cloud for future membership - so I guess trying the community may be helpful.

      Here's my problem.

I have split two versions of a same visual into folders within my photoshop document (one French - one English) and saved the document to work on it later.

When I open it now, all I see is only 1 full visual (English) flattened into one layer. i.e. I lost the French version completely and I no longer have my layers to correct the English version.

      Are those really lost?

      Can you help?

Is it possible that you created each language as a layer Group but saved the file in jpg format? In any event, if at this point you have only a one layer file, it is safe to assume you have to begin again. Should you elect to do that, consider using Photoshop's Layer Comps feature rather than layer groups. It will help you avoid duplicating layers that appear identically in both versions and assure design continuity .
