I've been having exactly the same issue—with InDesign CS6
I've tried reinstalling InDesign; booting up in Safe Mode; I even talked to Adobe (who after a couple of attempts at helping, stated that all older versions of Adobe products are no longer supported—SICK!) I'm not sure that upgrading to CC will help, and I'm determined to avoid paying high subscription fees!
Are you using any extra plug-ins or extensions with your InDesign?
Moving this discussion to the InDesign forum.
InDesign does not usually work well if you try to do a migration or in-place upgrade. Best bet is to uninstall, run the cleaner tool, and reinstall. CS Cleaner Tool for installation problems | CCM, CS6, CS5.5, CS5, CS4, CS3
CS5 is unsupported and if you did an in place upgrade that will add to the problems. A clean install is the only way to go.
Well what a waste of half a day....
Uninstalled the entire Adobe CS5 Creative suite
Run the cleaner
Found my back up of original DMG installer from 2010
reinstalled Adobe Creative Suite
never ending loop - Updater was unable to download the update - quit and try again later.
Original Indesign keyboard shortcut issues still remain
So does the fact that it’s not supported under Yosemite
Same keyboard shortcuts work on other Adobe Creative suit products Photoshop, FireWorks, Illustrator.
It's only Indesign that it does not work.
And given I am having this issue in CS5 and Amo is also having the same issue in CS6 it must be an Indesign / Yosemite bug.
Please report as a bug and provide and update to fix the issue - thanks
I was contacted by apparently a third party supplier called Adobe Systems via this forum
They logged in to my computer via team viewer
and proceed to download a cracked version of adobe cs6
in the mean time saying on skype that Adobe no longer has Adobe CS6 on their server.
This seemed very OFF to me and I disconnected the skype (and blocked Adobe Systems) and disconnected TeamViewer
If I wanted a cracked version of Adobe CS6 I'm very capable of doing this kind of thing my self
However I run a business I want to have a legitimate licensed copy of the software running for my staff.
They were offering a fully licensed version of a Adobe Master Suite CS6 with my own unique ID for USD$400
Again very OFF considering the upgrade from Adobe from Indesign CS5 to CS6 is almost AUD$1600
I don't know how they got my email address from this forum but it seems that the adobe forum has been hacked!
you have been warned!
I just had a slight peek at the problem. We run a slug plug-in called Triple Triangle and when we remove the plug-in and restart InDesign the keyboard shortcuts come back. But, as soon as we switch to finder or any other application and return to ID, the shortcuts are broken again. Ugh.
Are you running an extra plug-ins? If you remove them do the keyboard shortcuts return?
No I have no additional plugins.
As discussed above, I did a fresh clean install of Adobe Creative Suit CS5 and the problem still remained in INDESIGN only!
Any chance you are running ID on a Mac server? I have two Macs running yosemite and ID, but only the Mac Mini server has the issue…
Yes very interesting...
as discuss above I only upgraded my
MACBOOK PRO (Retina, Mid 2012) 2.7 Ghz Intel Core i7
to MAC OS X YOSEMITE
I have gone back to using my old iMAC 2.4 GHz Intel Core 2 Duo - Mac OSX 10.7.5
Until the issue is resolved.
Same keyboard shortcut problems here with CS5.5 and Yosemite 10.10, so frustrating!
No solution yet?
Once more...Anything earlier than CS6 is unsupported under Yosemite.
OK have to upgrade. Thanks Bob
Is the only way to get around this to buy a later version of the adobe suite?
I'm on Yosemite and having some problems with shortcuts InDesign, but also bringing in image files to Illustrator

CS5 is unsupported under Yosemite. Nothing is going to change that fact.
