So I work a ton with XML (and in turn, XMLNode). One piece I would like to use is to truly treat XML nodes like arrays, or strings, and be able to parse them.

I know how to extend the XMLNode class with another class, but I don't want to change the type name from XMLNode to anything else. So I wrote a prototype, right? Attached is the prototype. I'd prefer to write this the AS2.0 (or 3.0) standard way, but at this point, I don't really care.

Every time I do either, and try to run the function, it says "No splitNode() function is available" or something to that affect.
