I want to access the lrcat and lrdata files on the network NAS drive. However, I get the message "..Lightroom cannot launch with this catalog. It is either on a network volume or on a volume on which Lightroom cannot save changes..."
Please help for Lightroom to access the My cataloque files and lrcat and lrdata files on the network drive.
Your images can reside on the network drive, but the catalog must be on a local drive to the computer. Some people use dropbox, others will copy the catalog and take it to another computer. Still others will keep their images and catalog on an external drive.
Can the lrcat file and the lrdata files be separated?
I have no more space on my computer to hold the smartview and the preview lrdata files. Can I keep the catalog file [500 mb] on the my computer but the lrdata [85 gb and growing] files on the NAS drive. How else can I gain space on my computer? All the images are on the external NAS drive.
No, they have to be together in the same folder. Consider getting a USB 3 external hard drive and put your Lightroom catalog folder on it.
