Same issue here. I needed to make a slight change to a project I created in August with CC and the exported html from this newer version was absolutely unusable. I can't use this. Please look into this Adobe.
I know this sounds bananas, but have you actually tried to go into each symbol and re-initialize it with the new version of animate. Projects that I upgraded displayed this exact problem. I fixed these problems by going into each symbol and instance in animate and then re-running the output, fixed all broken upgraded projects for me. Any symbol that does not display correctly probably have not been "reinitialized" in 2014.1. Again sounds bonkers but I had the same symptoms - that is what I did and it fixed it for me.

Can you please try upgrading the file again with the latest patch? We have addressed a lot of issues in this patch (details here - Issues fixed in Edge Animate 2014.1.1 (5.0.1)), and this might also have been resolved.
Please share your original composition with us if it is still not working properly.
I upgraded Adobe Edge to 2014.1.1, and opened one of my earlier projects. I published it (with Host runtime file on Adobe CDN turned off).
I displayed the project in Firefox, and it appears to run just fine now. I watched the entire playback of the project (which is about 5 minutes), and didn't observe any issues.
So the update appears to have resolved the upgrade issue between versions.
Thank you very much for your help, and your timely response.
Thanks for the confirmation Ian. We really appreciate your help and patience on these issues.
Same confirmation here. I had a very complicated project with a lot of moving parts. Upgrading to the newer version has correct all issues that I was experiencing previously. Thank you for this help.
