This is what happened to me:
"If you have a prior version of Adobe Digital Editions installed along with Adobe Digital Editions 4.0, uninstalling one of them will de-associate the EPUB and ASCM file types with the application. You’ll then need to manually associate file types (see your operating system’s instructions for associating file types)."
When I try to Open With, then Browse for the program, I cannot get ADE to select. I see the .EXE file but I can't get it grab it to add to the program list.
Hi Ellis! The pic you show doesn't look familiar to me. However, after much grief - I got the association to work. I went thru Default Program and tried to change it there and what I discovered is that .ascm were defaulted to open with ADE 4 but the .epub wasn't associated the same. I tried to go thru the Browse - found the right file, but it wouldn't accept.
In the end, the great google gave me a link to a program that would force the default program to change. The location is: http://defaultprogramseditor.com/. After that I was able to go thru and update my .epub associations.
I'm glad it's sorted out. The image I showed you is the one you get when you go to File>Export>EPUB(Fixed Layout).
When I export I just get File>Export>EPUB - perhaps the fixed layout option is when you are doing EPUB 3? Or using IND CC?
Anyway the problem d'jour is now finished. Whew!
Hi miz sue,
You must upgrade you InDesign to the latest version InDesignCC2014.
We have given many new and exciting updates there. You can export to a newer format epub fixed layout.
Also, with the viewing app list you can by default open your exported epub in multiple readers simultaneously.
May you enjoy the upgrade!!!
