JJMack Nov 21, 2014 2:35 PM (in response to MartinB241)Perhaps something is messed up in you Photoshop preferences and the Image window is off screen. Did you try using F to go into full screen mode. Try resetting your preferences.Right after launching Photoshop press and hold CMD+OPTION+Shift reply yes to the prompt about do you want your preferences deleted.

MartinB241 Nov 21, 2014 6:34 PM (in response to JJMack)I tried that prior to the reinstall and that didn't resolve the issue. I haven't tried full screen mode but using that application frame option forces all of the windows and palettes into a single window/panel and I continued to have the issue.

gener7 Nov 21, 2014 7:18 PM (in response to MartinB241)So basically if you load a flat image, you see it in the layers panel as a thumbnail marked background, but there is no image?
If you drag an flat image with the move tool, do you see a checkerboard?
A screenshot of your work area with a picture loaded may help. show the layers panel and use cmd-shift-3 to take the screenshot.

gener7 Dec 1, 2014 11:11 AM (in response to MartinB241)It looks as if your image was in a floating window, then minimized to the dock. Do you see any kind of a thumbnail in that dock?
Look to the left of the trashcan, and try clicking on each of the three thumbnails there.

gener7 Dec 1, 2014 11:23 AM (in response to MartinB241)Thanks for that info. The only way I could duplicate that was to use a document window and minimize it.
Window > Arrange > Consolidate All to Tabs is checked?

You didn't say, but I'll guess it had to do with Yosemite.

Did you update to 10.10.1? OS X Yosemite 10.10.1 Update
Apple updated the video drivers with this release. Does that make any difference for you?

Pete.Green Dec 2, 2014 2:34 PM (in response to MartinB241)Have you tried in a new user account? (Good test for preferences, and possible faulty permission sets)
blogs.adobe.com/crawlspace/2012/07/photoshop-basic-troubleshooting-steps-to-fix-most-issue s.html#Permissions
Also curious to hear if it's happening in all documents, or specific documents?
Are you using any 3rd Party plugins? Could try starting PS holding the Shift key to disable plug-ins on launch.
Let us know if any of this helps
Regards,
Pete
