    LR5 suddenly stopped importing files

    owizofoz

Hi, LR5.6 (and now 5.7) will no longer show any files in the import dialogue. Further, I cannot make Lightroom the default program for opening various file types, such as JPEG. This behaviour started suddenly about a week - 10 days ago, and it has me baffled.

      Any suggestions?

Is there any error message? Can you show us a screen capture?

This is by design, Adobe has prevented you from doing this, photos must be imported into Lightroom either by File->Import, Synchronize or drag and drop. Some people report being able to make Lightroom the default program, and it works for some, I don't know how, but by design the software doesn't allow this.

            Hi, thanks for chipping in.

There is no error message, the screen is simply blank where the files to be imported should be. It is as if no selection has yet been made. It makes no difference which files or directory I select, even files previously imported by LR, they simply do not appear in the import box.

I will try o make a screen capture later his afternoon (after work)

I take your point about LR not being assigned as the default program, but it has always worked for me this wa in the past.

            Thanks again
