    Bridge cannot find camera from one day to another - why?

      Hi everyone,

      have an odd problem which I am hoping someone could help me solve please.

      I connect a Nikon (D600) to my computer, and I import the image files via Bridge. This has worked fine, mainly, however some times, Brdige ends up stalling with the message 'Trying to list devises, please wait' going on for ever. What has happened, and how can I solve this?

      I should add that I have the latest version, and the error did not happen from one update to another; the very same D66 Nikon camera was connected in the very same way, with the same cable, with the same Bridge - yet reached two different results.

      Also, I do not want to import the images via Nikons downloader since I end up with the .NEF format which is a pain. I like Bridge option to cinvert to .DMG

      Just really would like it to work as it should with Bridge finding the camera.

      Best regards,

          Have you check a common, trivial, issue with the connection? Connectors and cables that worked fine for ages start creating such issues.

          Some tips:

          * Try with another cable.

          * Connectors contacts get dirty, especially those that are often connected and disconnected. Not long ago a USB key and a USB drive were getting randomly suddenly disconnected. It even made my Mac OS crash sometimes. One the household must-haves, IMHO, is a contact cleaner spray. It does miracle on the connectors of your sound-system, your batteries, your computer, etc. I sprayed all the ports and cables, just in case. It solved the problem. Clean both sides, male and female. Do it as a regular maintenance.

          Hope it helps.

          BTW. I used to have my RAW format pics (CR2) converted to DNG while being downloaded. Then Photo Downloader started messing them up, so I stopped and I now use the native RAW format.

            Thanks for the tip, Nick. That was something I definitely haven't thought about. I'll give it a go.

            Have a great day.
