  • Operating system: Windows XP SP3
  • Web browser :Google Chrome Version 39.0.2171.71
  • Flash Player version  15.0.0.239

Have run Norton Utilities for Windows, which shows up the following as a possible problem...

Missing or Invalid Key, “CLSID\{1171A62F-05D2-11D1-83FC-00A0C9089C5A}\Inprocserver32, “ refers to a missing file, “C:\WINDOWS\system32\Macromed\Flash\Flash6.ocx.”

Checked Macromed\Flash folder where the only .ocx file is Flash32_15_0_0_239.ocx

Can anyone please advise?

Flash6.ocx is a very old Flash Player version.  It may not have uninstalled properly at one time (or something else installed it).

Basically you shouldn't be concerned of any registry entries, whatever some "cleaning tools" tell you.  But if you want to make sure any old Flash Player remains are properly removed, run the uninstaller from http://helpx.adobe.com/flash-player/kb/uninstall-flash-player-windows.html, then reinstall the latest version.

Thanks for your answer Pat. I'll bear it in mind, although this was all a new (clean) install on a replacement hard drive.
