2. Re: The thumbnails on my iMac are an hourglass
Barbara B. Dec 1, 2014 6:07 AM (in response to thebowlinbunch)Oops. You have a much bigger problem. You can't send PSE to the trash. You MUST use the uninstaller to remove it. You just made a whole big bunch of trouble for yourself. You will need to download and run this:
Use the CC Cleaner Tool to solve installation problems | CC, CS3-CS6
Then you can manually remove the bits you can reach. Not only from applications, but also from the library at the top level of your hard drive>application support>adobe. You can't use spotlight to search for these files--it's programmed to skip them. Then you can reinstall correctly.

thebowlinbunch Dec 1, 2014 6:28 AM (in response to Barbara B.)Do I use the cleaner then uninstall or vice versa?

4. Re: The thumbnails on my iMac are an hourglass
Barbara B. Dec 1, 2014 7:36 AM (in response to thebowlinbunch)Use the cleaner first. It will break the uninstaller, so you can manually move things to the trash.

5. Re: The thumbnails on my iMac are an hourglass
thebowlinbunch Dec 1, 2014 4:36 PM (in response to Barbara B.)I ran the cleaner and took everything elements related I could find to the trash. When I installed PSE it asked for the serial#. It did not ask for the serial# when I just sent PSE to the trash and installed from the CD. When PSE launched it still has my original catalog . Should I uninstall now that is has reloaded or does the lingering original catalog mean I didn't get everything?

6. Re: The thumbnails on my iMac are an hourglass
Barbara B. Dec 1, 2014 5:42 PM (in response to thebowlinbunch)No, uninstalling/reinstalling doesn't affect the catalog file. You can try the F5 thing now on your old catalog to see if it helps.

7. Re: The thumbnails on my iMac are an hourglass
thebowlinbunch Dec 2, 2014 7:29 PM (in response to Barbara B.)F5 did nothing useful. I created a new catalog and started importing the newest pictures that were a problem on the other catalog and everything works fine. Currently I am importing each folder one at a time. I will delete the old catalog when I get everything in the new one.
