How do I get rid of corrupted lines in a file?

    Karlhmv Community Member

I've tried duplicating the files into a new file and restarting the computer. Its when I'm zooming in and out they vary. Seems to be a preview thing. I have saved new versions of the file but its still the same. Any info would be much appreciated.

There are various programs out there that claim to repair corrupted files, but I couldn't find any that worked.  I had a whole drive full of corrupted RAW files and finally came to the conclusion that it's a lost cause.  Corrupt is corrupt.

The one thing that I was able to salvage is that the preview JPG were OK in most of them, and I could extract that file and at least have something.  I'm not sure what kind of files you're working with, but you mention preview so maybe it's RAW.  Not sure zooming in and out would affect that though - sounds more like a rendering thing.  Does the image change dramatically when zooming or just shift slightly?

            Thanks for your reply

Yeah I think its a rendering issue. When I zoom in and out it does change dramatically. I've changed to 8bit and so far its OK. This is working on a PSD file in PS.

Also just recently PS has decided to have a spinning thinking wheel for the majority of the time. You can still carry out operations but it's a spinning wheel rather than the cursor. It happens when there are few files open which leads me to believe its a memory thing although I haven't had this problem in the past with files up 23gig open. I'm running one of the latest Mac Pros 8 core with 64gig of Ram and 85% of memory allocated to PS. Would've thought this would be enough.
