1. Re: Got Virus/Malware from downloading the Abode Photoshop free trail. How do I remove?
BobZ30 Dec 1, 2014 11:52 AM (in response to bdskimmiekim)Where did you download it from? Do you have any anti-virus and/or anti-malware applications on your machine?

bdskimmiekim Dec 1, 2014 12:13 PM (in response to BobZ30)Hi BobZ30!
Thank you for responding. I downloaded it directly form Abode, and yes I do have Windows Defender and ran it and it said I was clean, but I have these random pop-ups in my Chrome browser.

3. Re: Got Virus/Malware from downloading the Abode Photoshop free trail. How do I remove?
Test Screen Name Dec 1, 2014 12:28 PM (in response to bdskimmiekim)Since you are the first to note this, I'm going to start with the assumption that Adobe didn't infect you with malware. It may be that you downloaded it from a site which looked like Adobe, or got it accidentally another way at the same time. We can tell you how to get rid of Photoshop (the normal way, uninstall on Windows) but it's unlikely to have any impact on the malware, if you have been infected somehow.
Worth checking your history in Chrome to double check that you got Photoshop from an adobe.com address.
Random popups can come from the web sites you visit, rather than malware, too.
What do the pop-ups say?

4. Re: Got Virus/Malware from downloading the Abode Photoshop free trail. How do I remove?
bdskimmiekim Dec 1, 2014 12:54 PM (in response to Test Screen Name)This is the site I downloaded the free trial from: http://www.adobe.com/cfusion/tdrc/index.cfm?product=photoshop_elements&loc=en
They are pop-up ads that are showing up in the back-end of my eCommerce platform admin panel. Also the Chrome browser I have isn't actually Chrome.. it is masking as it. I am wondering if uninstalling Chrome would help?

5. Re: Got Virus/Malware from downloading the Abode Photoshop free trail. How do I remove?
Test Screen Name Dec 1, 2014 1:00 PM (in response to bdskimmiekim)The thing is, if you have malware, it won't just sit there to be uninstalled. Only non-viruses cooperate. Real viruses are very difficult to get rid of - which is why we have antivirus...
So you could uninstall Chrome, but if you have an evil imposter, it will still be around.
Too see if we have any ideas, what do you mean by "browser isn't actually Chrome" -- what exactly shows you this? The more detail you can give, the more likely it is that someone will recognise the cause.

8. Re: Got Virus/Malware from downloading the Abode Photoshop free trail. How do I remove?
leapeabea Dec 4, 2014 12:43 PM (in response to bdskimmiekim)No access to Help files online due to unknown interruption by bogus virus alerts! I'm lucky to have been able to even access this page. That full page "alert" telling me Adobe may have viruses, and other things that threaten my computer, that interference page freezes my IE and I can't get back to the Adobe website - all my security programs are up-to-date and functioning properly, scans don't turn up any problems. I've been able to add a few bad URLs to my Internet Options Restricted sites, got rid of those which haven't reappeared since, however this particular site's URL cannot be copied and everything is blocked. HELP is needed to determine why Adobe now also has that type of intruder when the "Help" option is chosen.

9. Re: Got Virus/Malware from downloading the Abode Photoshop free trail. How do I remove?
Chris Cox Dec 4, 2014 2:34 PM (in response to leapeabea)Sounds like you have bad anti-virus software on your system that is trying to scare you with bogus alerts.
That, or you downloaded the software from someplace other than Adobe.

10. Re: Got Virus/Malware from downloading the Abode Photoshop free trail. How do I remove?
leapeabea Dec 4, 2014 6:59 PM (in response to Chris Cox)I thank you for your reply, Chris – didn’t expect to receive one as I’ve never tried forums before. I agree w/you, perhaps it wasn’t from Adobe, but it’s the only site I’ve had this particular one show up on. Anyway, I was told that Windows Defender was a very good anti-virus software when it was installed on my new laptop last year and automatically scans everything on my comp on a daily basis, including web sites I visit which alerts me not to visit.
Thanks again – may have to try another anti-virus software after all.
