Did you export as png to the the Camera Roll?...or how is your workflow? - Guido
Yes to the camera roll. On iphone 6. Is there problem exporting to camera
I've just tried to export as png and sending via e-mail to myself from the camera roll and opening from there with Photoshop Desktop with the result of a transparent png.
Could it be that the zazzle.com service has a problem? - Guido
A also tried redbubble.com as well. Same result. A while back i got the
trandparent thing working. It was a one off luck type of thing. Tried a
thousand different ways since n cant do it. Ok so how did you get it
to your email. Did you save to camera roll thrn send to email. What
suggestions do you have?
I attach image in my email and it says its a jpg. Im ecporting as a png but
for some reason it seams like its saving as a jpg.
Could you give it a try again? - Guido
Just tried again mate, no good. Im following the same instruction on this
thread https://forums.adobe.com/thread/1161648?q=Save%20png Ive done
this many times and doesnt matter how i fo it, upload on zazzle or attatch
file. It is saving as a jpg. Ive also re installed the app. Is there
possibly a setting in my app.
Yes. I never save as jpg. Always png.
Could you try after a force quit or device restart. Could be that your device is low on memory . -
Just restarted device, closed all background apps as well as ps touch.
Still showing as jpg.
Do you trigger the export via "Save to Gallery" or "Share" and afterwards "Save Image"? In addition what ios version do you have running? 8.1.1?
Save to camera roll, not share. And 8.1.1
If I understand the problem you export an image as PNG to the camera roll and then upload it through a form to a website or by a mail application.
Which mail application are you using? If you try to share the same image - is it always a JPG when it arrives?
Can you give us some info about the image that you are trying to export, like size and width, and amount of layers and if you have alpha or not in it?
Are you sure that you are using the camera roll and not e.g. the Photo Stream?
IMage size is 1136 by 640. Ive attatched an example with just one layer, no background. Here in the first attatchment, i show you the export process
when i view the image in camera roll the background is white. When i click on thr image to view it the background shows as black. When i upload it to zazzle or attatch it to email or upload it to redbubble it says it is a jpg file. but i am ecporting it as pdf.
Apple shows alpha (transparency) as black which is the reason why images can show as black if you have a lot of alpha mixed with black or like you grey with opacity.
The thumbnail view of the image in e.g. the Photos app seems to be a jpg since everything looks ok there. Try another color like e.g. blue and you'll see.
The reason why I was asking about camera roll vs Photo stream: photo stream exports the images as JPG.
At least if you try to mail an image (that you exported as PNG from PS Touch) - from the photo stream it will be attaching a JPG to the email.
1. Whenever you try to mail the PNG that you exported, does a JPG or PNG get attached?
2. Do you do the upload the image from the phone or somewhere else?
3. Do you see it as an a JPG once you have uploaded the image to one of the domains or before in the form where you are trying to upload?
I've been attatching and uploading from the phone. So you are saying apple
wont allow for png to be saved and will save it as jpg to the camera roll.
And answrr to third question is yes, it shows as jpg.
1) in ps touch i save as png, when ever i upload file to domain, or attatch
as file i get it from the phones camera roll or photo stream and it shows
as jpg when in the domain or when i attatch
I'm only trying to say that the photo stream uses JPG (no matter how it was saved to the camera roll), not that Apple doesn't allow PNG's to be saved to the camera roll.
At least that's what happens in my photo stream when I try to share an image from the photo stream to the Mail app.
If you save a JPG to the camera roll you will not have the problem with the black background in the Photos app since JPG does not support alpha.
If you export as PNG - you get a PNG otherwise you wouldn't see a black background in the Photos app for alpha.
The reasons for the three questions is:
If you by any reason have a problem getting a PNG uploaded by the form - it might not be due to PS Touch or it's export capabilities.
By saying that the PNG is black in the Photos app it feels as if you are exporting a PNG to the camera roll.
Btw when I speak about mailing I assume that you use the Mail app form Apple, please let us know if you are using another one.
Btw which iOS version are you using exactly?
I understand thr background colour thing. I am looking at using a logo with
transparent (with no) background. I am using the save to camera roll option
in ps touch and attatching the file through the gmail app. But its not
gmail with the problem. Zazzle.com and redbubble.com are uploading it as
jpg. I have tried uploading many different saved png's through the
photostream and camera roll to gmsil, redbubble and zazzle. With the redult
always being jpg.
When it comes to redbubble (and zazzle and Gmail), have you been able to upload any PNG from a desktop computer (nothing that comes from PS Touch?
Yes. But that defeats the purpose of this thread. I want to know how to
use ps touch png option on my iphone, that i have downloaded ps touch from
the app store and that the save png option exists in the app.
Also there is an android version and a iphone version. So they made the app
specifically for the iphone, they even recently updated it, to probly
support iphone 6 ios8. But the save png file is useless.
I normally think of the purpose of threads to know if there's an issue with the application or not.
So asking if you can upload any png as from a desktop and verifying that is has been uploaded as a png does not necessarily defeat the
purpose. If you have a problem with specific sites - has it occurred to you that the sites might be doing it (converting from PNG to JPG) on purpose?
In order to know this you need to rule PS Touch or mobile out and that was a quick way of doing that.
Another alternative would be to share the black background image to another app that allows uploads of PNG's.
I cannot say that it sounds as if the application has a problem with exporting as PNG.
If you can see it in iPhoto with black background it is a PNG since a JPG would not look like that - it would have a white background.
If not, the only way for us to understand your issue if you really have one is to send us screen shots of the whole workflow that you use.
You can share them to me privately.
Ok so i think it is now half solved. I can attatch as png to iphone mail
app. That is only way. To me it looks like the iphone phone library
converts it to jpg.
i can png through iphone app but if i save it from mail app to iphone gallery it isnt transparent anymore.
