Photoshop CC 2104 and CC corrupting layered files with random colors and squares. iMac OS X 10.9.5; 3.4 GHz Intel Core i7; 32 GB 1600 MHz DDR3; NVIDIA GeForce GTX 680MX 2048 MB

I'm getting files that suddenly have black or colored backgrounds (they were white), random squares and rectangles of either random colors or just holes into other layers, and it happens when I either switch between windows in PS or from CC to CC 2014. The files themselves have these artifacts; if you save the file and reopen, all the artifacts are still there. On some files, if I immediately close PS w/o saving, the file opens in it's original state, but then that file will continue to corrupt again soon after. Restarting the computer seems to help for a while, but isn't permanent.

I'm wondering if it's an issue with having both CC and 2014 versions open at the same time?
