1. Re: Speech Volume Leveler Latency?
ryclark Dec 2, 2014 3:49 AM (in response to xSonic521x)You would be much better off using a Compressor from the Amplitude and Compression Effects menu. These are meant for voice recording and should have a much lower latency. The Speech Volume Leveler effect is really meant for post production use on a ready recorded audio file rather than on a live input.
Try the Voice Leveler or Voice Over presets in the Single Band Compressor or the Tube Modelled Compressor.

2. Re: Speech Volume Leveler Latency?
xSonic521x Dec 2, 2014 8:17 AM (in response to ryclark)Unfortunately those presets have the Speech Volume Leveler as part of them. Is there any other effects, whether it be just one or multiple to give a constant level of input regardless of said input volume? You mentioned a seperate Voice Leveler effect right? I think I found it, it should give the same results right? The other added benefit that I did like with the Speech Volume Leveler was that I could set it so that clipping never happens regardless of how loud I scream aside from the fact that it boosted and/or lowered my voice to a constant volume, are there any other effects that do this as well?

3. Re: Speech Volume Leveler Latency?
ryclark Dec 2, 2014 9:33 AM (in response to xSonic521x)No, the Voice Leveler presets in the two mentioned Compressors are completely different from the Speech Volume Leveler effect. You would also need one of the Limiter effects to help stop your voice clipping but this won't protect the audio completely as the maximum level depends on the settings for your mic preamp and how you use the mic.
But in order to use these tools you will need to understand a bit more about what they do. So Take a look at this video on Improving Voice overs.
