1. Re: Problem with GPU power
John T Smith Dec 2, 2014 8:08 AM (in response to Max Videoproduktion)Did you do the hack?
If your nVidia card has at least 1Gig of video ram, use the nVidia Hack http://forums.adobe.com/thread/629557 - which is a simple entry in a "supported cards" file
Not everything uses CUDA... read this

dummergold Dec 2, 2014 9:53 AM (in response to Max Videoproduktion)I would say when you play your video expect your processor to do the work. It's when you render is when I see the Quadro perform (along with the processor).
Now I want to read that hack above

dummergold Dec 3, 2014 7:02 AM (in response to Max Videoproduktion)Me too. With a Mercury Playback Engine (GPI enabled) I would like my GPU to function also. It does slightly during playback and timeline rendering and the CPU runs 100%. It is during export rendering I get GPU operation.

6. Re: Problem with GPU power
dummergold Dec 3, 2014 7:14 AM (in response to dummergold)With Premiere Pro CC 8.1 it is extremely difficult to do work because time stands still between and during operations. Only Adobe machines are able to operate the new Premiere. Maybe going back one version would help you.
For me, makes me curious to go back to Premiere Pro CS6 and observe the GPU percentage during playback, because it works very fast.

7. Re: Problem with GPU power
Max Videoproduktion Dec 3, 2014 7:44 AM (in response to dummergold)I have Premiere CS6. But for approximately one year to solve various problems.
Before I had a NVIDIA Quadro 4000 now have a NVIDIA Quadro 6000, but no increase in performance.
I effects from Boris FX Boris Graffiti, Boris RED.
When I look in the internet somewhere different videotutorials and see computers that are much weaker (slower) and there find the effects of Boris running smoothly.
Really do not know anymore where the problem might lie .I look different forum but now I can not help anyone.

dummergold Dec 3, 2014 8:08 AM (in response to Max Videoproduktion)Ok, I understand your problem now and have no suggestions. I did not know of Boris until now. Looks like Adobe's After Effects - something similar.

9. Re: Problem with GPU power
dummergold Dec 3, 2014 9:19 AM (in response to Max Videoproduktion)Strange thing I think of with your GPU sniffer photo from above is it shows the driver as 6.05. Strange to me, because presuming that is Windows 7, 64 bit, the current driver is 340 (341.05 to be exact). So correct me if I am wrong.
Question to you is - in your Premiere Pro CS6 Project settings, is the option for GPU acceleration available and do you have it selected? Yes, that video card is CUDA supported, but have you enabled it in the project settings?
also, with the Boris plug-in transistions - do they show as GPU accelerated? An example would be beside what the regular Premiere effects show.
I can't remember my third thought unless that was all. I can post photos of what I am talking about, but not for about 8 hours.

SFL46 Dec 3, 2014 2:23 PM (in response to Max Videoproduktion)
I use Boris FX Red and Boris Graffitti as effects with Premiere, including 2014. When I apply the Boris plugin in a timeline clip, the status bar always turns from green or yellow to red. It is my understanding that the BorisFX effect pluggins do not use the GPU. If the playback is too slow, you can render the clip with the effect applied before playing it back. You can also preview from within the plugin by clicking on "preview to Ram"I may be wrong, but this has been my observation over several years

12. Re: Problem with GPU power
dummergold Dec 3, 2014 3:36 PM (in response to Max Videoproduktion)Good for saying there SFL. Thanks. I render the sequence with PP CC 8.1 to view effects because of non-performance issues. As for my CS6, I see now that I have issues with it not recognizing my CUDA card. My PP CC 8.1 recognizes my CUDA, so I think with CS6, I need to do what John T. Smith says with the hack above for supported cards.
For you Max - I try to post this picture that puzzles me of your driver. Yes you say it is current, but why does your sniffer say otherwise and how do I run that sniffer to see what it tells me? And sorry for you having to post your Project Settings twice, my device shows me too small and blurry, but I see now your project settings have the CUDA enabled.

13. Re: Problem with GPU power
dummergold Dec 3, 2014 5:53 PM (in response to dummergold)ok, I answer my own question as to 'Why Does Driver Say 6.05?' and post another picture of my own GPU sniffer after I applied the 'hack' to get CS6 to recognize the Quadro K5000 as only the Quadro 5000 was listed.
only difference (other then Quadro version and memory) is Capability of 3. Yours has 2, and I do not know what that is for either

Max Videoproduktion Dec 4, 2014 2:47 AM (in response to dummergold)Hello,
in my view, -6.05-, is CUDA driver. -
15. Re: Problem with GPU power
dummergold Dec 4, 2014 2:56 AM (in response to Max Videoproduktion)Yes, my GPU sniffer gave the same 6.05 driver result

17. Re: Problem with GPU power
dummergold Dec 4, 2014 5:05 AM (in response to Max Videoproduktion)With Premiere Pro CS6, in the effects panel - do the Boris plug-ins show along with Premiere's effects? If the do, do they show as Accelerated. If you have CUDA enabled, the effects accelerated is not 'greyed out'.
I use nVidia's control panel and open the nVidia Utilization Graph, then click Always on top, to show me my GPU usage.

19. Re: Problem with GPU power
dummergold Dec 5, 2014 3:25 AM (in response to Max Videoproduktion)that is the same as SFL46 has said above
if you are seeing other people demonstarting the Boris effect, they are likley doing what SFL46 has also said - after that your timeline will turn green
without the 'accelerated effect' being supported, it will not play in real time as I think you are after
for what you are after would be a bigger processor as your video card will not be utilized
render out your sequence and watch your GPU performance
