Brennan17 Dec 5, 2014 1:47 PM (in response to Silkrooster)I am not trying to scale a circle. If I needed to do that I would just use the transform tool. I'm afraid that doesn't help me. I found a a ring shape in the custom shape tool but unfortunately I can't adjust the thickness of the ring so I guess I will have to deal with that, thats really too bad though I feel that I should be able to adjust the thickness (not the width) like how skinny it is. Even using the vector shape and not rasterizing it, it is still blurry a little bit. It most definitely does not look as sharp as in Photoshop. I have a gradient as the background behind the rings. Even using bmp for the file and tried jpg it is still blurry even with vector shape. I can see a little pixelation around the vector text and the rings on my windows desktop. Still looking for solution, thanks! Also any tips for what the best file type to use for a desktop wallpaper coming out from Photoshop?

Silkrooster Dec 5, 2014 9:33 PM (in response to Brennan17)When using custom shape tool, make sure you are using shapes and not paths (found in top toolbar at far left side). It will make it easier to alter the thickness of the path. Make sure you use the direct selection tool or the group selection tool, with the path selected you can adjust the paths thickness. It is in the top toolbar where it says stroke give it a color then set its thickness which usually is in points.
Because this is a vector shape it will always look better than it does when saving with a raster format like jpg. If you are seeing a huge difference, it could be resolution related, the higher the pixel dimensions the better.
For a more smoother look, you will find png is a better choice than jpg as it does not throw away any data. Jpg could make an image look more pixelated if the quality setting is too low or has been resaved several times. Each time you open, edit and save the jpg more data gets thrown away until it is unusable.

Brennan17 Dec 7, 2014 5:54 PM (in response to Brennan17)Wow holy crap!! I'm not sure what it was but after I saved it as a png with no compression and unchecked "resample image" from "image" menu at top then "image size" the quality was photoshop quality on my desktop!! The blurryness is all gone and everything is very sharp!! Thank you!!

Silkrooster Dec 8, 2014 12:45 AM (in response to Brennan17)The resample image check box in the Image>Image Size dialog box alters the pixel dimensions when changing the physical dimensions or the ppi. With the resample checkbox unchecked pixels dimensions are greyed out and therefore locked.
