1. Re: Having button take you back to page where you came from
CtDave Dec 2, 2014 11:18 AM (in response to markrpigott)Use Acrobat's Link tool to select the link and then, in the Properties, edit the link's actions.
For example, use a go to page view and select page 2.
Play about to see what is possible and what gives a best fit for you.

2. Re: Having button take you back to page where you came from
markrpigott Dec 2, 2014 12:37 PM (in response to CtDave)This is fine but what if it needs to Jump to Page 2 on the master document. I have tried for an hour and can not create an destinations to jump to.
I have been using 3D packages for over 20 years, and Acrobat is totally confusing me.

3. Re: Having button take you back to page where you came from
CtDave Dec 2, 2014 12:54 PM (in response to markrpigott)Using go to a page view you'd "file-open" the desired PDF then navigate to the desired page followed by setting the desired page magnification. Then you'd continue through the process click-path to completion.
"External page" (the external PDF / 2nd PDF file) now has a link annotation with an action that will open "Master" (the original / first PDF file) to page 2 of "Master" with the desired (set) page magnification.

markrpigott Dec 2, 2014 1:01 PM (in response to markrpigott)So on page one of the external PDFI edit to go to a page two of the MASTER but click on Named Destination, and I get a warning"
The target document does not have any destinations......."

6. Re: Having button take you back to page where you came from
CtDave Dec 2, 2014 1:16 PM (in response to markrpigott)"Named Destination" - NO; that is not what I have described. Please read the dialog and give it a go.
While use of a named destination work? Yes, another approach. However, unless provided for by an appropriate authoring application upfront in the authoring files (i.e, using FrameMaker) you have to manually place the named destination and they have to be uniquely named. This can rapidly become a pita don't ya know.

7. Re: Having button take you back to page where you came from
markrpigott Dec 2, 2014 1:20 PM (in response to CtDave)It turns out you have to have BOTH the master and second page open, then
it will work.
At least I learned about the DESTINATION on the master page.
But Headache #23 in G minor.
Acrobat makes learning 3ds Max look simple!

8. Re: Having button take you back to page where you came from
markrpigott Dec 2, 2014 1:30 PM (in response to markrpigott)The test works.
But when I simulated a client getting the pdf, when they click on the icon to go to the second page
they get a security warning from Adobe reader. I need to be able to suppress this behaviour on
all potential interactive quotes, or this concept will not fly.
Thanks

9. Re: Having button take you back to page where you came from
markrpigott Dec 3, 2014 6:38 AM (in response to CtDave)I figured out your method finally.
I know how to duplicate buttons etc.
But the security warning on customer pdfs has to be supressed somehow.
I never got security warnings when i created with Director
