use transform selection to specific size

    redbourn Community Member

      Hi,

I want to use just part of a large image using "transform selection" and I want the final result to be a specific width.

Is there a way to do that?

      Thanks,

      Michael

          Make the selection

Choose Edit > Free Transform and make the change you have in mind.

In the Options bar click where the first red arrow points so that when you set size it will maintain image proportion

Enter the H or W. The sample here shows 7 inches in height

Thanks, but I want to remove different amounts from the top and bottom and as far as I know Cntrl T won't do that.

Cntrl A select/transform (CS6) lets me select what I want to do but I can't see how to control the size.

Instead of doing this on a layer, I can open a new canvas, open the photo, use the crop tool and then drag the image onto the main canvas.

Just thought that their might have been an easier way.
