Canon 7D2 fails to connect with LR 5.7 for tethered shoot.
The camera connection does work with Canon EOS Utility.
LR sees the camera but fails to establish and maintain connection. See small video clip to view the camera and computer behaviour while attempting to connect.
I also have the Canon 5D3 and have no issues connecting with various software (EOS Utility, LR, Helicon Remote) on that computer. I have a MacBookPro mid-2009 running OS X 10.8.5. Lightroom, Camera Raw and EOS Utility are up to date, same goes for the 7D2 firmware.
ok, I see that the 7D Mark II isn't supported for tethered shoot by Lr yet... bummer! :/
I know there is a work around with a folder bieng watched by Lightroom and using EOS Utility to shoot tethered and save into that folder... so no worries I guess until the next update. ;-)
It usually takes many months and perhaps more than one version of LR before tethering is supported after raws are supported. The first hurdle is for the camera manufacturer to release a new SDK with the camera supported, so Adobe can’t have tethering ready when raw support is because a camera isn’t added until after it is announced. Canon has added the 7D.2 to their SDK about two weeks after the camera was available, so the ball is in Adobe’s court:
