Lightroom 5.7 will not convert .nef to dng from my Nikon d750.
It's supposed to do this conversion. What happens when you try?
Stand alone dng converter will not recognize or convert the files. Any know whats wrong?
You need to select a folder of NEFs to convert, not individual files to convert.
Hello...LR import function and the dng converter both say :
the files are not recognized by the raw format support in lightroom.
The version 8.7 DNG converter says:
the source folder does not contain any supported camera raw files.
I did select a folder, not files. The converter does work on my d700 files.
Please check to be 110% sure that you have Lightroom 5.7 installed.
In Lightroom, use Help->About Adobe Photoshop Lightroom
There shouldn't be a problem in Lightroom if you have definitely installed Lightroom 5.7. As far as the DNG converter is concerned, you need to just choose a folder containing your NEF files, but don't open the folder when you are searching in the DNG converter. The converter only works at the folder level.
The only other problem I can think of that could be interfering is if you used an older version of Nikon software to download your images.
Yes! That I do... but problem now solved. Files must have been damaged. New set I just took worked OK.
Yup! the View NX program was the problem...just used the same program that came with the camera, and all is OK now.
I am having issues converting my file. The message is the source folder does not contain any supported camera raw files.
I have lightroom 5.7
Dng Converter 8.6 and I have selected the folder level. I am using the disc that came with my camera ViewNX2
I have been through every forum looking for help! no bueno. When i drag and drop my files from ViewNx2 to lightroom they look horrible . Can anyone help me please
The first thing to check is to make sure your ViewNX2 program is up to date. Go get the most recent version from NikonUSA.com.
Alternatively, there is no reason you need to use ViewNX2 to transfer the files. Just put the memory card in a card reader, and use a file browser to copy the files over to your hard drive. There is also plenty of third-party transfer programs available. I am a big fan of the PC utility "downloader pro" by BreezeSys.com.
I don't understand why you feel you need to use ViewNX to download your images from the camera. Lightroom has an excellent import process. I don't see that you gain anything by using the Nikon software. It seems to me that it has the capability of just creating more problems.
If you want to convert your D750 files to DNG using the standalone DNG converter thing you need to have DNG converter 8.7 installed. Once you have it installed, just choose the FOLDER in the DNG converter, but don't open it in the DNG converter file browser. If you open that folder then you will get the message that there are no files to convert. The converter works on the folder level, not the individual file level.
Thank you both for your help. I thought NX2 was neccessary! So I won't use
it, thank you!
