    Masks not concealing

    Pure_Diamond

I am using the 2014 release of Photoshop. My Masks are not fully hiding what is below. Why is this and what can I do to solve it? http://imgur.com/6OHmgg9,9xTUo4l

I see two things right off hand

          1. Your foreground color in the toolbox is not set to Black 0,0,0

(press the D key on the keyboard to set the default foreground/background colors of black 0,0,0 and white 255,255,255

and you can use the X key to switch between the foreground and background colors while painting on the layer mask)

          2. In the Properties panel, the Mask has 10 px of Feather set.

You want it set to Zero (0.0 px)

Also, you might try using the Brush Tool instead of the Pencil Tool for softer edges.
