What is the easiest way to make Kindle-friendly files from InDesign?
I've just started this process, and wondering if plugging along with InDesign CS5 and the beta Kindle plugin, then editing HTML, is not really the best way to approach the problem.
Would upgrading to InDesign CC help significantly ? Would paying a professional be a smarter move, if all I've got is one or two of these things to do? In essence, what would you do if this were your problem to solve?
Moved to InDesign EPUB forum.
If you are doing anything related to EPUB then moving to CC would be the first thing I would recommend but I wouldn't expect a whole lot of support from Amazon with that plugin.
Updating to InDesign CC would help. CS5 had really primitive support for EPUB or Kindle.
But there is no direct export to Kindle, and the Kindle plug-in has remained unchanged since InDesign CS6. Anne-Marie Concepcion, who has created some excellent videos on Lynda.com, recommends exporting an EPUB (Reflowable) from InDesign CC. Then open the EPUB in the Kindle Previewer, available from Amazon Publishing, and saving the file in Kindle format. I'd recommend highly that you look at her videos.
