Clip will play with 'media player classic' but will not convert to premiere friendly file types without losing picture

Usually I use 'Pavtube' video converter to change my files directly from my Canon D70 dslr or GoPro to .mpg files to import to Premiere CS5.5 . Never had a problem.

I recently got sent a load of GoPro (.mov) files via an external harddrive, I've then moved them on to my own hard drive and gone to open them. They would only play audio with windows media player, VLC and quicktime. So, someone suggested I downloaded Media Player Classic... hurrah that worked and I could see the footage as well as hear it.

I've now gone to convert this footage to .mpg files to import to Premiere. They do that just fine but the clips go back to just playing audio and a blank white screen.

I'm really not the best at this and learning as I go along. I simply don't know what to try next, help please?

      Thanks!
