I'm working in InDesign CC, and I'm trying to create the body of an 8.5 x 11 book. There is primarily text, with some pictures to be placed within the text, with captions under some of the pictures.
I have no interest in metadata.
I simply wish to place text under images, that describe those images.
I tried using the Caption setup dialog box, but putting the text in the fields doesn't make the text actually appear below the image. And neither the Generate Live Caption nor the Generate Static Caption options are lit up. The Caption setup dialog box doesn't seem to put captions under the images anyway. In fact no text appears under the images at all when I attempt to use this dialog box.
What is the easiest way to accomplish this, so that if I need to move the images the captions move with them?
Thanks in advance for any help.
make a text frame for the caption, then group it with the image. If you need to anchor it in the text, anchor the group.
