I use lightroom 4.4 on a windows 8.1. I just downloaded DNG converter 8.7 and found that it did not work with my new Canon 7DMK ll. Lightroom says that it does not recognize the files (raw). How do I know that the DNG converter and lightroom are compatible to each other and that they are working together? What is the process, does it plug into light room and go through the photograph import area? I'm not a programmer so it's got to be well explained or easy.
The Adobe DNG converter is a stand alone application it works by itself. Lightroom does not use it.
Install from the download then open the program, select a folder with the raw files you wish to convert and make the choices from the dialog box and proceed. After the files are converted you can import the .dng files into Lightroom. see the screen capture.
