8.02 updater... is it really need?

    Level 7
Is there any reason to update my DW8? It's running fine and now I see
people are having issues with the updater.

They finally address SQL security issues. If you use their built-in code for
databases then you should update. If you role your own, then no need.

Can you elaborate on the problem? Did the DW 8.0.2 updater installer
hang while you were trying to install it? Did you get any type of
error message? Maybe there was a dialog box hidden behind another
                dialog box?

What exactly happens now when you try to open DW 8? Does it not
launch? Do you get an error message?

Try uninstalling and reinstallling DW. To uninstall DW 8 completely,
please follow the steps in this TechNote, as there are some tricks to
                removing all of the settings:

When I ran the updater, it almost appeared to hang. It just took a
*very* long time to run, with no indication that anything was happening.
With enough patience, it did install. You just have to wait it out. ;-)

It was suggested in another group to uninstall all extensions before doing
the the update. I did that and I didn't have a problem. Of course, it may
                    just have been coincidence.

I have installed on my pc the 8.1 version.
I have downloaded the patch 2.
                      I have closed all applications.
I run the patch and after some minutes it ask me the original cd.
                      Then it crash...
I have reinstalled the patch now and it seems work fine, but when I open dreamweaver I can see that is's always the 8.1 version!!!
It's incredible, i must disinstall and reinstall the programm to update!!!
