Is there any way i can use a mask starting from a sequence?

    Sebastian676 Level 1

Hi, this is a weird question, i dont even know if AE can make this possible, but that's why i'm asking, i have this video, full of layers, but there is only one layer with fire, the thing is that i want to add 'Turbulent displace' only in the fire layer but also affecting the character that is behind it, but only in the places that the fire touches, is there any way to do this?

Pre-compose the layers that you want to apply a turbulent displace to. Inside the pre-comp duplicate your character layer so that you may use the duplicate as a track matte. Add a new solid for turbulent displace. Put the duplicate of your character above the turbulent displace layer and use it as a track matte. Try simple choker to adjust the boundary of your track matte. Now a pot apply turbulent displace and change the layer to and adjustment layer.

I think that will give you what you want.
