Which effects are you attempting to apply a mask to?
If Renderer is set to GPU Acceleration, please try switching to Software Only.

Trying to use a simple blur effect with the mask tool.
The graphic card in use is the NVIDIA GeForce GT 750M using mercury acceleration GPU open CL. When I switch to software only the problem seem to disappear....
Guess it can be some sort of driver update issue, but can not find any updates...Any ideas?
What are your sequence settings, particularly the resolution (aka, Frame Size, Horizontal & Vertical). Also what kind of clips are you working with--codec, resolution...
In this case it is dv25 (dvcpro 25Mbit) clips, Sequence: QT DV PAL, PAR: D1/ DVPAL 16:9.
