I currently have a GTX 950. I know this is not supported for raytraceing.
I have an additional slot for a PCI express card and I want to put in another less expensive card that is supported for raytracing both in the ram preview and rendering (if thats possible) . The second card would not be hooked up to any monitor, it would only be used to facilitate the raytracing aspect. Is this possible to do with after effects?
Forget it. AE will only use the primary card, meaning you would have to shuffle around everything plus the second card would still be useless. For a deprecated feature such as Raytrace 3D this is an utter waste of time and for the money of a second card you can easily buy Element 3D and have hundred times more creative options than some crappy extruded text or shape layers...
I agree with Mylenium. If you're a CC subscriber, there is very little need for the ray-traced renderer since you have C4D included with AE ( details of CINEMA 4D integration with After Effects )
If you're not a CC subscriber, you would still be spending better money getting Element 3d (or ShapeShifter or Freeform Pro) than getting a GPU for accelerating the ray-traced renderer.
