Do you get an error message or what happens? Have you tried rebooting in case the old LR is stuck in memory and preventing the new one from starting up?
If you're serious about wanting help here, you'll need to provide more info, like complete details - was Lr5.7 (or any other version of Lr) working before you "loaded" Lr5.7.1? what exactly you did, what exactly happened when you did it, etc. etc. etc..).
Also, which OS?
Also, which OS?
PS - I probably won't be the one to help you, but such info may help whoever steps in as I step out..
I just upgraded to 5.7.1 and get the same on OS X 10.10.1. The messages is
Adobe Photoshop Lightroom 5 cannot be opened because of a problem.
I tried deleting Lightroom and reinstalling, just the same.
I tried deleting the preference file in $HOME/Library/Preferences/com.adobe.Lightroom5.plist
again crashes just the same, and Lightroom crashes before recreating the file.
Tried a reboot. No joy.
I just reloaded LR 5.7.1. The icon is on my desktop. But when I click on the icon it just reopens the window to the download.
Yes exactly. Anytime i try opening it tell me the the Lr encountered an error when reading from its preview cache and needs to quit.
i have rebooted...i have restarted but to no avail. please help me.
I have had the same experience. I reinstalled a fresh copy of OSX Sierra. *I had clones of my main drive so this wasn't high drama, just time.
I installed 5.4 and the license. It worked. I then downloaded the 5.7.1 update and it broke! It wouldn't even launch really. Lightroom would start, PDapp would launch and then go away without so much as a message. POS!
