The latest AE update reset most but not all my(so it was selective and intentional by Adobe) time consuming user preferences to default and I thought the cloud idea was to safeguard my previous preferences across systems and upgrades., which where also wiped. What happened?

thanks. I clicked on this in AE and it sent me to a place where creative cloud was the only option.
