Adobe PP and AME 'lose sight' of CUDA capable cards after first operation

I have an annoying issue where after I have started PP or AME and then closed them, they loose visibility of the CUDA cards available in the computer. If I turn the computer on, load AME, PP or both, it runs correctly and allows me to use the Mercury Playback Engine GPU (CUDA). If I then close either application and load them again it says "This project was last used with Mercury Playback Engine GPU Acceleration (CUDA), which is not available on this system.". It then proceeds to load in software only mode. The only way to fix this is to reboot it.
