          It's how HTML works.

          > PLEASE HELP AS SOON AS POSSIBLE !

Here's genuine and sincere help. Don't use these menus. There are much
better ones available. But, knowing a bit of HTML is going to be the key to
correct usage of any of them.

this is a fireworks newsgroup and Serenith has asked a reasonable question
about how to use a component of a Macromedia product

            why not just help..... ??

your options on the various features of fireworks may not
be shared by all who seek help using fireworks

believe it or not - people come this forum seeking help using fireworks - as
opposed to help NOT using fireworks --- imho

If you have looked at the method used, and the code produced, and the huge
number of people who have been trapped by the use of this feature, you would
know that I am trying to help.

Fireworks is an exceptionally excellent program for producing web graphics.
It is very poor at creating pop-up menus.

Warning people about potential problems with a method of doing something
IS helping. There is a very sound concept of using the right tool for a
specific job. Fireworks is NOT the right tool for creating menus for a
variety of reasons but mostly, because the code it produces is bloated,
inefficient and the layout can easily be broken. Fireworks 8 improve
upon the uther and complete mess that menus were in previous versions
but people often end up with ridiculous things like 3000 lines CSS files
and other such nonsense. Murray was right, there are much better ways
and pointing them out IS helping.

Fireworks is a graphics program, it is far from being an appropriate
tool to create code. If people stopped trying to wrongly treat Web
design as DTP and started actually learning how to work efficiently with
this medium instead of expecting "easy" silver bullet solutions that
don't work then they would avoid themselves a lot of frustration.
