I am changing out the hard drive on the computer I currently use Lightroom on. I am upgrading to a SSD drive on a toshiba PC. I want to be able to use my current copy of LIghtroom on the new drive on the same computer. Do I need to disable the current program to do that? IF so can someone please tell me how to do that. Thanks
I assume you mean you want the Lightroom program and catalog file on the SSD. (There's really no reason to put photos on a SSD)
Some SSDs come with software that allows you to clone your existing HD onto the SSD and be up and running from the SSD quickly. If you have that, I would suggest you use that software, but I can't give you any specific help. As an alternative, you could uninstall Lightroom and re-install on the HD, and then using your operating system, move the catalog file to the SSD and then double-click on the catalog file.
Thank you for your help
