I have edited jpeg files on my company laptop using PS CC. However, I cannot open these same files using my PS CS5 (on my personal computer). I have tried saving them as TIFFs, PSDs with the same results. All show an * after the extension when veiwed on my home computer (ex: .jpeg*).
I cannot figure this out. Any thoughts?
I don't know why * is being appended to your extension. That would cause problems opening the file unless you remove it.
I would have your IT check that company laptop out. No PC should be renaming the extension.
In Photoshop CC, go to Edit > Preferences > File Handling and look at the settings.
Choose "Maximize File PSD and PSB Compatibility" and set it to Always.
